Abstract

Stewart, E.J., Reed, D.W. 1989. Spatial structure in point rainfall: a geostatistical approach. Proc. BHS National Hydrol. Symp., Sheffield, September 1989, 3.67–3.74.

An analysis of the spatial structure of a statistic of point rainfall extremes in South West England is presented. The use of geostatistical techniques in hydrology is discussed and the technique of kriging is described in detail. Point kriging is used in the mapping of the mean (RBAR) and coefficient of variation (CV) of annual maximum 1-day rainfalls.
